Everyday Heroes: VIETNAM POWs

October 1, 2013

Many heroes among us have done extraordinary things, saved lives or sacrificed their own lives for others. Men and women who have shown courage and maintained faith under horrendous circumstances, in the daily presence of fear, pain, and sorrow.

But the link below will remind you of a group of men who endured torture, who faced daily fear and prevailed, who remained faithful to their country and returned to the United States as symbols of greatness.

The American POWs in North Vietnam suffered terrible treatment that would have broken most people. But these men from small towns and large cities all across our country found strength in one another’s courage, and formed a comradeship among themselves that ultimately led to their survival.

I beg you to never forget these men. Many have passed on. Those who have survived have been slowed by time. But their example can never be diminished or slowed. Ask yourself what you would have done, how you would have acted, had you been in their shoes.  Honor their suffering and their memories through your own actions every day.  In some small way, be an Everyday Hero. Make a difference in someone’s life.

I believe you will be changed after you watch the following video. Let it be an influence in your life.
